Innovator Founder Visa

The Innovator Founder Visa is a long-term immigration route designed for entrepreneurs with an innovative and scalable business idea to establish and develop a business in the UK. It replaced the “Innovator” and “Start-up” visas in 2023, creating a more streamlined and effective structure. The process is based on business plans evaluated by independent endorsing bodies.

What Is Innovator Founder Visa?

This visa type is aimed at foreign entrepreneurs who want to bring a new and unique business idea to life. The business idea must be endorsed by a body authorised by the UK Home Office as being innovative, viable, and scalable. Successful entrepreneurs can gain indefinite leave to remain after 3 years.

Advantages of Innovator Founder Visa

  • Fast Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR): Entrepreneurs who successfully meet their business goals after 3 years can apply for ILR.
  • Live with Family: Spouses and children under 18 can move to the UK with a dependent visa and have the right to study and work.
  • Flexible Work Permit: Besides the business they establish, visa holders can also work in another job that fits the “skilled work” definition.
  • No Minimum Investment Requirement: Unlike previous systems, there is no specific investment threshold. However, applicants must demonstrate the viability and financial sustainability of their idea.
  • Global Business Environment: Entrepreneurs can benefit from the UK’s advanced finance and technology infrastructure.

Innovator Founder Visa Application Requirements

  • Endorsement Letter: The business idea must be endorsed by an endorsing body as “innovative, viable, and scalable.”
  • Age Limit: The applicant must be at least 18 years old.
  • English Language Proficiency: A minimum English level of CEFR B2 is required.
  • Financial Viability: A minimum of £1,270 must be held in a bank account for 28 consecutive days before the application (additional requirements apply for dependants).
